Associations between indoor VOCs and childhood asthma in Shanghai, China: an analysis stratified by frequency of window opening during night

Few studies pay attention to the possible associations between indoor VOCs and childhood asthma in Shanghai considering effect of household ventilation. From March 2013 December 2014, we collected air samples from 358 children's bedrooms Shanghai, China. Information on asthma, environmental exposures, lifestyle behaviors was collected. Two-sample Mann-Whitney U test, bivariate logistic regressions, multiple regression were used obtain association asthma. Association analysis stratified by frequency window opening during night conducted explore its target association. High concentrations toluene dodecane significantly associated with wheeze, a high concentration diagnosed In low night, toluene, dodecane, TVOC Our results indicate that exposure may be risk factor for especially poor ventilation night. Family avoidance should considered study asthmatic symptoms.
